Taking a cue from one of my favorite artists, Daryl Mandryk, I made some 10 minute speed paintings, pausing one of my favorite movies, Avatar. This is a great way to study composition, lighting and color keys, and gesture while not lingering on any details too long.

I think I'm gonna do this with High Sierra, an old Humphrey Bogart movie that I screen-captured last year. This is rad.
