Looking interesting, I would give the belt buckle some more design, like a Lion head or something. Also on his leg armor, shin plates...I could see some extra design happening on the middle gold line, especially on the tip of the line when it meets the knee. SOme trojan greek design like gargoyle or warrior helmet shapes. I think in the end this will make you model that more interesting.
I dig the angular style. I also agree with tyrone that there are plenty of opportunities for design in the armor. Design in armor shows what kind of warrior this guy is, ie the more elaborate the design, the higher up in the ranks he is. Is he a soldier? A gladiator? etc.
I'm a little off with the straps for the shield. I think they should be more centered so you can use them on the arms as well as the shoulders.
